Saving North Carolinians Money
According to recent independent third party reports (including by Synapse Energy Economics, Duke University, Energy Innovation Policy & Technology, and the Brattle Group), joining a competitive wholesale market would create immediate and sustained 10% reduction in power bills for residential and commercial consumers. It would also potentially save industrial consumers, who are job producers and significant contributors to rural economies throughout North Carolina, as much as 30% on power bills – a meaningful contribution to economies statewide.
Saving Consumers money
Competitive energy markets are proven to be reliable sources of energy and cost savers for consumers - helping generate jobs and putting more hard earned money back into the hands of ratepayers.
lowering costs for businesses
Industrial consumers across the state of North Carolina could save as much as 30% on power bills.
Helping reach clean energy goals
As North Carolina draws a broader range of businesses to the state, a wholesale energy market will not only make the appeal of cost savings to businesses, but also will help them meet their self-mandated clean energy goals - an increasingly important priority among the business community throughout the country and in the competitive global economy.
Energy Market Impact
According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), the NC Energy market is an industry worth over $500 Billion.
